If you come during open museum hours, the staff are very excited to explain more of the history and the iron artifacts. They also put on shows (like Shakespeare or night-time candle walks), so if you're local, ask for a schedule of upcoming events.

Doesn't look like much from the street but behind the first two "old" buildings is a trail full of 250 years of history. Not just a forest trail: Around every bend is another structure from an ironworking village dating back to George Washington. Great views of the reservoir and the river. This place is good for a short (2 hour) and easy hike, even for small children; or if you want an adventure, the map shows a longer trail that leads to Ringwood Manor.

The waterwheel is awesome!
